"They have been arrested, three have been secured. Two are still on the run," explained Bekasi Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Mustofa to reporters on Monday (3/24/2025).

Mustofa emphasized that the three perpetrators who were arrested were definitely not employees of the market management. From the initial examination, they admitted to extort for THR money from traders at the Cibitung Main Market on their own initiative.

He further said that the perpetrators admitted to being part of the market management. The perpetrators also admitted to often charging the merchants for market cleaning service.

"Usually they also charge the merchants for market cleaning service, but that is indeed for the market needs. However, in this case, we are acting against Eid levy," he said.
