Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State logistics agency Bulog has prepared emergency rice stocks of up to 50 tons at every airport and seaport across Sumatra to accelerate food aid distribution for disaster-affected communities, Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said on Sunday (14/12/2025).
The policy targets flood-hit areas with disrupted land access, ensuring rapid response through air and sea routes.
“We have instructed all Bulog units in disaster-prone areas to stock at least 20 to 50 tons of rice at airports and ports,” Rizal said during an inspection at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He explained the measure was taken to anticipate urgent needs in isolated regions such as Bener Meriah, Takengon, Agam, in Aceh and Central Tapanuli in North Sumatera, where prolonged flooding has damaged infrastructure. By positioning rice closer to transport hubs, Bulog aims to shorten delivery time and maintain daily minimum reserves during the emergency response period.
The policy has been in effect since Thursday following assessments of extensive infrastructure damage. Bulog also confirmed the availability of cooking oil and sugar to support public kitchens coordinated with local administrations.
