Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. A Bali court sentenced Canadian man Denis Vallee (44) to one year and six months in prison on Thursday (25/9/2025) after finding him guilty of defrauding a villa owner in a multimillion-rupiah rental scheme.
“Sentencing the defendant to one year and six months’ imprisonment, with time served deducted from the term imposed,” presiding judge Gede Putra Astawa declared at the Denpasar District Court.
The panel ruled Vallee violated Article 378 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code on fraud.
The sentence was six months lighter than the two-year demand by prosecutors, who alleged Vallee forged transfer receipts worth CAD 209,420 for Villa Beelia Luxe in Kerobokan. Despite never paying, he occupied the property for two weeks in May 2025.
The court also ordered his iPhone seized for the state and acknowledged significant financial losses suffered by the victim. Both Vallee and prosecutors are considering appeals. Prosecutors emphasized his deception caused severe material harm.
