inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that the 60th National Maritime Day is an important moment to bolster the state's maritime strength in realizing a sovereign and prosperous Indonesia amidst increasingly tight global competition today.

“Development in the maritime sector should be our strategic agenda to strengthen our state’s power,” says Luhut in the video uploaded by the Maritime Affairs and Investment  Coordinating Ministry instagram account on Monday (9/23/2024).

He reveals that his party continues to give their best in ensuring that the maritime development programs are well executed.

“There are many priority programs that become our focus in answering today’s challenges and needs,” continues Luhut.

A number of things have been done, starting from the development of port infrastructure, increasing maritime connectivity, and even increasing the maritime-based economy.

"All of this is also done with digitalization, to make our investment more efficient," he explained.

In his statement, he said, Indonesia, as the largest maritime country in the world, has to become a strong nation in the maritime world.

"For centuries we have lost our identity due to colonialism and now we have to bring back the glory of our ancestors," he explained.

He said that the National Maritime Day should be an inspiration for the current and future generations as 2/3 of Indonesia's territory is covered by the ocean. "This potential must be utilized optimally," he concluded.
