inp.polri.go.id - East Kalimantan. In commemoration of World Mangrove Day, which falls on July 26, 2025, personnel from the Marine Development Unit (Binmas Air) of the East Kalimantan Regional Police carried out mangrove planting and nursery activities in the Proklim Mangrove Forest Area, Muara Rapak Village, North Balikpapan District, on Saturday (7/26/2025).
This activity is part of the 2025 Work Program of the East Kalimantan Regional Police Marine and Air Directorate. During the activity, two personnel, Brigadier Taufik Ismail and Brigadier Purwanto, worked directly in the field with students from 6 Junior High School, 11 Junior High School, 15 Junior High School, and PGRI 4 Balikpapan Junior High School, as well as five accompanying teachers.
A total of 500 mangrove seedlings were planted and 300 seedlings were sown as a form of shared commitment to protecting coastal ecosystems. The event also included an educational session on the mangrove ecosystem, including an introduction to mangrove species and their ecological benefits, and an interactive question and answer session between students and the police personnel.
This activity successfully attracted 105 participants and proceeded in a safe, orderly, and enthusiastic atmosphere. It is hoped that this activity will foster awareness among the younger generation about the importance of preserving the mangrove ecosystem and preserving the aquatic environment.
This activity also demonstrates the Indonesian National Police's commitment to supporting environmental conservation efforts, in line with the police's role as protectors and guardians of the community, not only in terms of public order and security, but also in building a greener and healthier future.
