Central Kalimantan Police Successfully Disclosed Illegal Gold Mining

inp.polri.go.id - The Central Kalimantan Regional Police managed to uncover four cases of illegal gold mining operations, with a total of nine people who have been named as suspects. This was conveyed directly by the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Kalimantan Police, Commissioner Kaswandi Irwan at the press release at the Central Kalimantan Police Headquarters, Tuesday (23/08/2022). He stated that from the four cases handled by the Central Kalimantan Police, three of them are the collectors of the gold mining results, while the other one is the illegal gold mining. The police also secured Rp235,560,000 in cash and gold weighing 1.3 kilograms, which is estimated to be worth around Rp1 billion. As for the resort polices in Central Kalimantan, he received the report that there were a total of nine cases of illegal mining with total suspects of 27. "This brings the total number of suspected gold miners without a permit in Central Kalimantan to be 36 people," he explained. He also added that currently those who are being secured are gold miners without a permit. Then they also secure several heavy equipment and land owners, namely in Kapuas Regency. "Currently the perpetrators and the evidence have been secured, now under further investigation," he concluded. The perpetrators are suspected of violating Articles 161 and 158, in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining as amended by Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Central Kalimantan Police, who accompanied Commissioner Kaswandi Irwan, added that the disclosure was a follow-up to the instructions from the Central Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto regarding environmental crimes. "We from the Central Kalimantan Police and the ranks will continue to take action against illegal activities, especially in Central Kalimantan Police," he concluded.
