Chief of Papua Regional Police thanked the vaccination event in front of the press. At the moment, Armed Forces-Police and Regional Government have conducted vaccination in Papua. "On this role, we would ask the students to participate as well", Chief of Papua Regional Police said. All school-age children are expected to be vaccinated through the Merdeka vaccination event, which would run until August 17, 2021. "Besides enhancing body immunity, this event could help the government in the 20th National Sports Week (PON XX) in Papua, in which the regulation only allows vaccinated people to get into the venues", Chief of Papua Regional Police said. As information, many people got Covid-19 in Jayapura city because of their unvaccinated status. He hoped that this door-to-door vaccination event could decrease the Covid-19 transmission number. "Our target for Merdeka vaccination is 70% people vaccinated. With the implementation of Level 4 PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions Enforcement), Police will keep anticipating some people taking advantage of this situation. We are also monitoring rising prices, medicine availability, and forged vaccination certificates", Police Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri said. Meanwhile, the Head of Education, Libraries, and Archives Agency of Papua Province, Christian Sohilait, thanked the Police for the cooperation. "In the name of the regional government, I thanked the Police for cooperating in conducting 3T (testing, tracing, and treatment). In the last two weeks, National Police have been helped us. And we will achieve the target of 70%, or 57,000 children, in four clusters of PON XX host cities", Head of Education, Libraries, and Archives Agency said. Meanwhile, the Headmaster of 3 State Vocational High School of Technology and Engineering of Jayapura, Supriyanto Hadi, said that vaccination would be one of the requirements for the students. "We are the vocational school with practical activities. Therefore, we will start limited offline school in September. Only the vaccinated students who could attend the offline school", Suprayitno said. He also said that five vocational schools (SMK) would attend the mass vaccination event, such as 2, 3, 4, 5 State SMK, 4 State SMK of Koya, and Bethlehem Keerom SMK. (bb/bq/hy)
