Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. Search and rescue efforts at the Cisarua landslide site in West Bandung have intensified, with the joint SAR team recovering a total of 38 bodies as of Monday evening (26/1/2026).
On the third day of operations, nine additional victims were pulled from the debris by 6.30 pm and immediately transferred to the Indonesian National Police (INP) Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) unit for processing.
"The total number of victims handed over to DVI since the start of the operation has reached 38," said Ade Dian, the Head of the Bandung Search and Rescue Office, as cited by antaranews.com
He added that while morning rain hindered progress, clear skies in the afternoon allowed the team, which was supported by 12 heavy machinery units, to accelerate the search.
The West Java Regional Police confirmed that forensic teams are working around the clock to provide closure to grieving families.
"As of our latest update, 20 victims have been identified and returned to their respective families," said Senior Superintendent La Ode Aries El Fathar, the Operations Bureau Chief of the West Java Regional Police.
Although initial reports listed 108 missing persons, authorities said that this figure remains dynamic as they cross-reference missing person reports with the evacuee list. The emergency response phase is slated to continue for at least 14 days.
