Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian President Joko Widodo, famously called Jokowi, stressed that the threats of climate crisis is getting real and worse. The impact, such as scorching heat and drought, has been felt in many countries.
“The threats of climate change getting more real and we and the others have felt it. Earth’s temperature continues to rise and the weather been hot lately. Drought has also been happening everywhere, not just in Indonesia,” said President Jokowi when inaugurating the Festival Environment-Climate-Forestry-New Renewable Energy at Indonesia Arena on Monday (9/18/2023).
The threat of the climate crisis, says Jokowi, affects widely to food supplies. Many countries are in food crisis due to climate change.
“There is food crisis and many are under its effect, either wheat or rice,” adds Jokowi. The food crisis greatly affects the country who has begun halt their export. This also affects the price of primary needs, rice as one of them.
“There are 19 countries who have halted, or even stop their export, which resulted their price in rice increased. This includes Indonesia, we have experienced slight increase in price, we have to be careful on this matter,” stressed Jokowi.
In light of this crisis, Jokowi implores the community to once again bring back the habit of planting trees, with the long-term goal of tackling climate issue.
