Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto says that the integrated task force of online gambling eradication is not only limited in enforcing the law, but also carrying out preventive steps in suppressing online gambling in Indonesia.

According to the Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis shows there are 3.2 million online gamblers in Indonesia in 2023, and around 80% of them gambled with a value below IDR 100,000.

“We will also soon collaborate between ministries by forming a task force according to the instruction of the President. The task force will be tasked in providing education to the people, and then to conduct cyber patrol, and then to also enforce the law, block the suspect's account and uncover various cases,” said Hadi on Wednesday (4/24/24).

For law enforcement, the task force will involve police, prosecutors, and foreign ministry. The decision involving foreign ministry is due to online gambling who control their networks from outside.

For its first step, the task force will monitor the countries in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, in managing cyber spaces, the Communication and Informatics Ministry and BSSN will be involved.
