Inp.polri.go.id - Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with his Pakistani counterpart in Islamabad on Monday (12/1/2026) to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan.
“Minister Sjafrie met Pakistani Federal Minister of Defense Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj to advance defence diplomacy and practical cooperation,” said Defense Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The meeting reviewed defence collaboration under the 2010 bilateral agreement, covering military education and training, defence human resource development, and coordination through the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC). Both sides agreed to deepen institutional mechanisms to support long-term cooperation.
During the visit, Minister Sjafrie also held talks with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and met Pakistan Air Force Chief Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu at Air Headquarters. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between armed forces, particularly in training, professional exchanges, and capacity building.
