Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin proposed a 75% increase in operational allowances for the Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers during a hearing with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (30/4/2025).

The proposal aims to improve the welfare of soldiers and civil servants within the TNI who are deployed to operational areas such as border regions and outer islands, he said.

"The Ministry of Defense is working to raise the operational allowance by 75 percent—if necessary, even up to 100 percent, The proposal is already being processed administratively and will go through presidential regulation for approval." he said., as quoted by antaranews.com

Minister Sjafrie emphasized that while soldiers receive monthly salaries, these are often left for their families, with operational allowances intended to support them in the field.

He added that many soldiers are motivated to serve in operational areas due to the allowance. For special assignments in Papua, operational allowances have remained stagnant from 2002 to 2024 despite inflation and currency fluctuations. For this, he also proposed a 60–65% increase specifically.
