inp.polri.go.id - Agam. Personnel from the Tanjung Raya Sector Police continue to monitor and respond to flooding and landslides in Agam Regency, West Sumatra.
On Thursday (12/1/2026), a landslide occurred, completely blocking the Lubuk Basung-Bukittinggi road, making it impassable in both directions. The landslide also reportedly buried several homes.
Furthermore, a piece of heavy equipment was buried by the landslide. However, thanks to the efforts of officers on the ground, the equipment has been successfully evacuated.
As of Friday morning, the area was still experiencing heavy rain and ongoing mudflow. This situation increases the potential for further landslides, so Tanjung Raya Sector Police personnel are urging the public to remain vigilant, avoid landslide-prone areas, and evacuate to safer locations.
Tanjung Raya Sector Police Chief, Police Senior Inspector Muzakar, explained that another landslide occurred the previous night, impacting the main access road in the area.
"Last night, a landslide occurred, completely closing the road from Bukittinggi to Maninjau and vice versa. Currently, our focus is on clearing the waterways blocked by landslide material, as water is overflowing and flowing in various directions," said Muzakar.
He also urged the surrounding community to increase vigilance amid the ongoing extreme weather.
"Currently, authorities are clearing the area using heavy equipment to reopen the road," he added.
The Tanjung Raya Sector Police, along with related agencies, remain on standby at the disaster site and are conducting intensive monitoring to anticipate the possibility of further landslides, while ensuring the safety of the community in the affected area.
