In celebrating New Year’s Eve, the Chief of Yogyakarta Regional Police, Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono along with the Vice Governor Sri Paduka Pakualam X attends a video conference led by the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on Wednesday (12/31/2025).
In his statement, Anggoro states that the situation in Yogyakarta is generally safe, with the number of vehicles entering Yogyakarta reaching 2,023,315.
Furthermore, Anggoro says that as of December 31st, 2025, number of tourists reaching 2,660,208 people, spread into 14 known tourist destinations, such as Malioboro, Kaliurang, Candi Prambanan, Gembira Loka, beaches in Yogyakarta, and others.
Police also report that the security on Church Mass in 116 churches in Yogyakarta were attended by an estimated 33,320 people.
On the other hand, data shows that there are around 430,000 people spreading into 88 public spaces in Yogyakarta.
Moreover, the Yogyakarta Regional Police is directly involved in securing New Year's Eve, with 2,450 personnel involved.
On this occasion, Anggoro also stated that all police forces in Yogyakarta have implemented various preventive measures to prevent disturbances to public order and security. This includes a ban on the lighting of firecrackers.
