inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that online or online gambling became the most cybercrime case during 2024 based on data from the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"Gambling in 2024 was at 1,720 cases, while in 2023 it was lower," said General Sigit at the Risk-Based Mentoring Program (Promensisko) event at the PPATK Building, Jakarta, Thursday (5/8/2025).

Sigit continued that the number of online gambling cases handled by INP in 2023 only reached 275 cases.

"Earlier, Ivan (Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center) said that if we are not careful, there will be a predicted increase of IDR 1,200 trillion. This means that the figure is a prediction that we must then suppress," Sigit said.

On the other hand, Sigit mentions that online fraud cases were in second place in the most cybercrime cases during 2024, namely 1,437 cases.

According to him, one of the reasons why online gambling and online fraud are the top two cybercrime cases is because of the development of cyberspace.

Therefore, he said, INP has taken preemptive steps by distributing educational content and appeals through various channels, and carrying out cyber patrols against negative content.

In addition, he said that INP had formed a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) to provide services in the event of hacking.
