According to him, Indonesia's success in capitalizing on this momentum is largely determined by the quality of a healthy and drug-free young generation, especially now that Indonesia is experiencing a demographic bonus.

"One way to keep them healthy is to keep them away from drugs, because drugs cause mental damage, dependency, and other problems that make them unproductive," said the Minister of Home Affairs on Thursday (October 23, 2025).

Minister Tito made this statement while receiving a visit from the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Suyudi Ario Seto, at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office in Jakarta.

The meeting discussed improving cooperation between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the BNN in efforts to Prevent and Eradicate Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) across all regions.

The Minister emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in efforts to prevent and eradicate drug abuse.

According to him, drug handling cannot be done piecemeal, but must be implemented systematically, comprehensively, and sustainably.

He explained that an effective strategy to suppress drug abuse requires a combination of two approaches: a soft approach and a hard approach.

This includes efforts to destroy drug trafficking networks and address root causes such as poverty and other social factors.

The Minister of Home Affairs added that the Ministry will continue to support BNN in strengthening coordination, drafting regulations, and utilizing regional budgets to ensure the effective implementation of the P4GN program, down to the village level.
