inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The East Jakarta City Government is collaborating with the police, the Indonesian National Armed Military (TNI), and religious and community leaders to prevent juvenile brawls during the holy month of Ramadan.

"The role of community and religious leaders is crucial in assisting authorities in maintaining order in the region, especially during the holy month of Ramadan," said East Jakarta Vice Mayor Kusmanto, Friday (2/27/2026).

This cross-sector synergy, said Kusmanto, is to ensure the region remains safe and conducive, especially during the critical hours leading up to sahur (pre-dawn meal) and after tarawih (night prayers).

Furthermore, Kusmanto encouraged all levels of society to play an active role in maintaining the security of their respective neighborhoods. He stated that prevention efforts cannot rely solely on the authorities but require collective community involvement.

"During this fasting month, hopefully there will be no tension among youths that could lead to brawls. Therefore, the community must work together to protect their own neighborhood," said Kusmanto.

He emphasized the crucial role of religious and community leaders in providing moral guidance to the younger generation. Furthermore, Ramadan is considered an opportune time to strengthen religious values, such as doing more positive activities, and establish stronger ties between each other.

Furthermore, Kusmanto requested sub-district and village heads to improve coordination with security forces in their areas. Security authorities were also asked to intensify patrols and conduct early detection of potential disturbances.

"Supervision must be increased. If there are signs or potential for conflict, immediately take preventative measures to prevent it from escalating into brawls," Kusmanto emphasized.
