East Java-Indonesia Took the First Step in Several Strategic Collaboration

inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Provincial Government and the Indian Government are exploring strengthening cooperation in several strategic sectors, including education, information technology, and tourism.

This was raised in a meeting between the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste, H.E. Shandeep Chakravorty, at the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya, Monday (2/26/2025).

"We are grateful to receive a courtesy visit from the Indian Ambassador. This meeting was very productive, there are many opportunities for cooperation that can be explored, especially in the fields of education, technology, and tourism," said Khofifah.

In the field of education, the East Java Provincial Government and India have collaborated through the Cyber ​​Defense Academy program in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (KEK). This program uses a curriculum and teaching staff from India.

In addition, Khofifah welcomed the full scholarship program from the Indian Government for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, both for students and state civil servants (ASN) from East Java.

In the tourism sector, Khofifah and Ambassador Shandeep agreed to encourage more Indian tourists to visit East Java.

A number of leading destinations were introduced, such as Mount Bromo, Ijen Crater, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, and Gili Iyang which have high oxygen levels.

"She also recommended cooperation in promoting tourism between Bali and East Java in one package, so that tourists who go to Bali can also enjoy tourism in East Java," said Khofifah.

Meanwhile, H.E. Shandeep Chakravorty said that together with Governor Khofifah he also discussed cooperation in the fields of business and investment, especially tourism.

"I think we should work together with the Ministry of Tourism, the Governor of Bali and the Governor of East Java to promote tourism packages so that we can attract more tourists to East Java," said Shandeep Chakravorty.

He expressed his optimism towards this cooperation and appreciated the leadership of Governor Khofifah who he considered successful in advancing East Java.
