Seeing the current generation who is more active in social media and become an integral part of modern life that affects various aspects in communication, education, and culture, Papua Regional Police Cyber Directorate gives Digital Ethics and Literacy in Social Media to the school students of YPPK ASISI Sentani High School.
Led by Police Senior Inspector Arianti Hubi, the socialization educates the school students on proper and accountable social media use and to be smart in interacting and contributing via social media.
“Right now, there are many social media platforms that can be used. Information can be easily gathered and also there are many positive contents in it. However, we also have to be aware that there are negative contents along with, and thus, we have to be wise in using social media and filtering the information. Social media is addictive and dangerous, could make you sleep less, learn less, and can distort your thought patterns if it is not used wisely,” says Arianti Hubi.
Arianti also states that someone's wisdom in using social media can be seen by how they process information responsibly.
Following the socialization, Papua Regional Police Cyber Directorate opened an interactive Q&A session with students as they were very enthusiastic about asking questions and discussing the topics presented.
"This activity was closed with a group photo and it is hoped that this activity can create a safer, more inclusive, and beneficial social media environment for students and the surrounding area as a whole," concluded Arianti Hubi.
