Inp.polri.go.id - Bogor. The accident at the Ciawi Toll Gate, West Java, claimed eight lives, with 11 others injured, on Tuesday evening.

Bogor Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Eko Prasetyo  explained on Wednesday (5/2/2025) that the crash occurred at around 11.30 pm on Tuesday when a truck carrying water gallon containers lost its brakes, colliding with several vehicles at the toll gate. Initially, six were confirmed dead, and two were injured.

The collision involved six vehicles, three of which were completely destroyed by fire, while the others sustained heavy damage.

“It's believed the truck’s brakes failed, causing it to crash into vehicles waiting in the toll plaza,” Chief Eko said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Authorities have reopened the toll gate after clearing the scene. The surviving victims were rushed to Ciawi Regional General Hospital for treatment.
