Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Former Navy officer Satria Arta Kumbara is no longer an Indonesian citizen after joining military operations in Russia, said Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas on Wednesday (14/5/2025).

“If he did not obtain presidential approval, his citizenship status is automatically revoked under the law,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The ministry has coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is preparing to notify Satria through the Indonesian ambassador in Moscow. Although Satria has not formally requested to renounce his citizenship, checks on the ministry’s system confirm his active involvement in a foreign military, which violates national regulations.

Under Article 23 of Law No. 12/2006 and Government Regulation No. 2/2007, Indonesian citizens automatically lose their nationality if they serve in foreign militaries without presidential consent.

Satria, previously a Second Sergeant in the Navy, went viral on TikTok wearing both Indonesian and Russian military uniforms.
