Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police arrested a 31-year-old man identified as AR for allegedly defrauding a victim by promising to secure their entry into the Indonesian National Police (INP) through fake connections.

“This kind of fraud tarnishes the institution’s reputation. It’s a serious crime that harms the public and must be eradicated,” said Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro on Tuesday (14/10/2025).

Police said the scheme occurred between February and May 2025 at the Indonesian Parliament complex. The victim, A (30), from Tangerang, was convinced by AR, who falsely claimed to be a staff member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III, to pay Rp 750 million (about $47,000). None of the promised candidates were accepted into the INP.

Chief Susatyo reiterated that the police recruitment process is entirely merit-based and free of charge. Suspect AR was arrested in Central Jakarta with evidence including bank records and chat logs.

He faces fraud and embezzlement charges carrying up to four years in prison.
