Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said the recent underground landslide at PT Freeport’s Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) could disrupt state mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam)’s gold supply.

“We’re conducting a full evaluation. PT Freeport’s concentrate production hasn’t reached maximum capacity, which means a shortage in supply is unavoidable,” he told reporters on Tuesday (14/10/2025).

Antam currently cooperates with PT Freeport Indonesia to purchase up to 30 tons of gold to meet domestic demand. However, with Freeport’s smelter unable to refine concentrate after the landslide, gold output is expected to decline.

Minister Bahlil noted that processing 3 million tons of copper concentrate normally yields 50–60 tons of gold, as reported by antaranews.com.

The minister said his office and the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal are reviewing measures to secure Antam’s gold needs. Last year, Antam sold 43 tons of gold and aims to reach 45 tons in 2025 despite production constraints.
