Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman assured that the recent decline in rice prices will not reduce farmers’ welfare, stressing that the government has secured minimum grain purchase prices at Rp 6,500 per kilogram.
“Keep this good condition. Our stock is currently at its highest, and prices are lower than last year,” he told reporters on Saturday (22/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Minister Andi Amran emphasized the government’s dual task of protecting farmers’ income while keeping rice affordable for consumers.
He said that Indonesia remains self-sufficient as rice imports have been halted, unlike in other countries struggling with shortages. The minister added that any price fluctuations were swiftly addressed with market operations, which will continue until December 2025 due to the country’s abundant rice reserves.
He projected that prices may decline further within the next two to three weeks.
