Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The World Trade Organization (WTO) has ruled in favor of Indonesia in its biodiesel trade dispute with the European Union (EU), backing several of Jakarta’s key claims against countervailing duties imposed on Indonesian biodiesel.
“This is good news, as the WTO Panel supports Indonesia regarding the dumping duties on biodiesel in Europe. As a consequence, the EU will need to revoke those duties. Now we are waiting for the EU’s response,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on Saturday (23/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The WTO Panel recommended that the EU align its measures with the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (SCM Agreement), affirming Indonesia’s stance for fair market access for palm oil and biodiesel.
Minister Airlangga stressed that the government will take measured steps to ensure the ruling strengthens Indonesia’s export commodities and supports biodiesel’s role in global markets.
The case was filed in 2023 after the EU imposed duties on biodiesel imports from Southeast Asia.
