Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has announced a major restructuring of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, starting with the replacement of officials at five of Indonesia’s busiest ports on Wednesday as a direct response to concerns over revenue leakage and the need for more rigorous enforcement against smuggling.

"We are embarking on a massive restructuring of tax and customs personnel. For Customs, we start tomorrow," Minister Purbaya said on Tuesday (27/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The reshuffle specifically targets leadership and key positions at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Tanjung Emas Port di Semarang, Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, Batu Ampa Port in Batam, and Belawan Port in Medan. 

Minister Purbaya noted that the evaluation would be selective; some officials will be reassigned, while others may be "sent home" (deactivated) depending on their performance records. 

This internal rotation is intended to send a stern message to the institution to prioritize national revenue targets and combat illegal trade, such as the recent smuggling of lobster seeds and rice.
