Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Floodwaters have cut the railway line between Pekalongan and Sragi stations in Central Java since early Saturday (17/1/2026), forcing PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to halt and reroute multiple passenger services for safety reasons.
Heavy rain caused water levels to reach up to 10 centimeters above the rail head, rendering the track unsafe.
“The line has been declared unsafe and dangerous for train operations,” said Luqman Arif, the Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Semarang, as quoted by antaranews.com
As a result, several long-distance trains, including Jayabaya, Harina, Argo Anjasmoro, and Kertajaya, were either stopped, diverted via southern routes, or canceled. PT KAI implemented a temporary detour through Tegal–Kroya–Solo–Semarang while continuing mitigation and monitoring efforts on site.
To maintain limited connectivity, PT KAI also prepared water-resistant BB 304 locomotives to pass flooded sections once conditions allow. Passengers affected by cancellations were offered service
