inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi stated that the government is not targeting mass organizations in general, but rather acts of thuggery that disturb investors.
He made this statement in response to the rampant news and public perception that tends to equate all mass organizations as problematic parties.
"There are many mass organizations. For example, if you join the Indonesian Journalists Association, that's a mass organization. If you join the Alliance of Independent Journalists, that's also a mass organization. Nahdlatul Ulama, a mass organization. Muhammadiyah, a mass organization," he said at the PCO Office, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Monday (5/26/2025).
Hasan explained that President Prabowo Subianto's direction was very clear that the government is focused on taking firm action against acts of thuggery, whether carried out individually, in groups, or organized.
According to him, these acts of thuggery are what hinder the investment climate because they extort investors to spend additional costs for them.
"Many investors who want to invest in Indonesia had to think twice, or faced with troublesome challenges because of acts of thuggery like this," he said.
He added that the President has ordered law enforcement officers to immediately conduct a study and take real action to resolve this problem.
On that occasion, Hasan again emphasized the importance of distinguishing between legitimate mass organizations and acts of thuggery.
"So, we no longer use the words mass organizations, but use the term thuggery," he said.
