inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government is targeting the development of green jobs, or jobs that contribute to environmental conservation, as part of the transition to a green economy.
This was stated by Minister of Environment Moh Jumhur Hidayat after meeting with the Danish Ambassador to Indonesia, Sten Frimodt Nielsen, and the Environmental and Circular Economy Sector Advisor at the Danish Embassy, Erika Torres.
"Indonesia can learn from Denmark in creating green jobs. These jobs come from all activities in the waste and waste management sectors. They can also become carbon credit auditors, carbon analysts, and similar jobs, which are considered green jobs," explained Hidayat on Wednesday (6/3/2026).
He explained that Indonesia has a significant opportunity to develop green jobs in various sectors related to environmental management, from waste management to the carbon economy.
The Danish experience is considered an important reference in accelerating the development of green talent and opening sustainable employment opportunities for Indonesia's young generation.
During the meeting, the Danish government offered Indonesia the opportunity to learn firsthand about green job development practices implemented in that country.
Denmark's experience is considered an important lesson for Indonesia in developing a green jobs ecosystem that can generate economic benefits while sustainably addressing environmental challenges.
Following up on this collaboration opportunity, the Ministry of Environment will send a team to further study the various green jobs development programs and models implemented in Denmark.
"The Ministry of Environment will meet with competent parties related to green jobs to review the programs and their progress," said Hidayat.
