Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government affirmed that its political stance toward Israel remains unchanged as the country advances its bid to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said Jakarta will adhere strictly to President Prabowo Subianto’s position delivered at the UN General Assembly in September 2025.
“The President’s statement at the UN is clear: Indonesia’s position depends entirely on Israel’s recognition of Palestinian statehood,” he said on Thursday (11/12/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The minister reiterated that Indonesia will only recognize Israel once Israel fully acknowledges Palestine as a sovereign, independent state—an essential political prerequisite even as OECD members, including Israel, must approve Indonesia’s membership bid without objection.
Minister Airlangga met OECD Deputy Secretary-General Frantisek Ruzicka to discuss progress on Indonesia’s technical review, prioritizing environment, trade, and digital economy assessments. He noted that OECD accession is mandated under the 2025–2029 RPJMN and supported by Presidential Decree No. 30/2025.
