Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said there is a possibility the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) could be downgraded to an agency, pending deliberations on revisions to the SOEs Law in parliament.
“There is a possibility the ministry will be downgraded to an agency. That option is on the table,” he told reporters after a hearing at the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday (23/9/2025), according to antaranews.com.
State Secretary Prasetyo explained that the operational role of managing SOEs is increasingly handled by the State Investment Management Agency, known as Danantara, while the ministry functions largely as a regulator. The final decision on the ministry’s future will rest with the ongoing legislative debate in Commission VI of the House.
He added that any potential changes would also take into account management structures and the status of civil servants currently working in the ministry.
