inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate has uncovered a drug trafficking ring involving methamphetamine and marijuana. This network operated through online package delivery using fake receipts.
Acting Head of Unit 4, Sub-Directorate 2, Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate, Police Senior Inspector Budi Purwanto, stated that this operation resulted in the arrest of VA (34) and TM (29) in Tanah Tinggi, Tangerang City, Banten. Police seized 1.16 grams of methamphetamine and 2.3 kilograms of marijuana from the suspects.
"The suspect, VA, acted as a dealer in Tangerang City, while TM served as a warehouse guard and keeper of VA's illegal goods," said Budi on Monday (1/26/2020).
The perpetrators' modus operandi, he said, was quite interesting. They packaged the marijuana into online packages, but all the shipping receipt stickers were fake.
"This was done to deceive the security if they were ever suspected, by pretending the perpetrators were delivering packages," he explained.
He revealed that the two perpetrators had been under investigators' surveillance since July 2025. However, investigators had lost track of them at that time. Despite this, monitoring continued until the perpetrators were finally detected moving again in January 2026.
