inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that some of the total six demands submitted by workers on International Labor Day or May Day in Indonesia are being worked on by the government

"We are actually working on some of the demands, one of which concerns layoff mitigation. We have been intensive in the last few weeks to formulate what substance should be included in the layoff mitigation process," said Prasetyo, quoted by Antaranews on  Thursday (5/1/2025).

Based on an official statement from one of the labor unions, the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), the workers are carrying six demands in this year's Labor Day commemoration, namely asking the government to eliminate the "outsourcing" work system, forming a Layoff Task Force.

Then, realizing a living wage, protecting workers by ratifying a new Manpower Bill, protecting domestic workers through the ratification of the PPRT Bill, and eradicating corruption by ratifying the Asset Confiscation Bill.

Of the six demands, Prasetyo explained that the government continues to refine the substance of the legal umbrella regarding layoff mitigation through the formation of the Job Opportunity Expansion and Layoff Mitigation Task Force.

Prasetyo further explained that the government wants the Layoff Mitigation Task Force to not only handle cases at the downstream, but comprehensively from the upstream, which is from industrial sector, businesses, to workers.

The Job Opportunity Expansion and Layoff Mitigation Task Force is also one of three new task forces approved by President Prabowo to be formed after the Indonesian Government negotiated a reciprocal tariff policy with high-ranking United States officials.
