Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita confirmed on Friday (25/10/2024) that the government is taking measures to protect PT Sri Rejeki Isman (Sritex) employees following a bankruptcy ruling by the Semarang District Court.

The top priority is to prevent layoffs and keep operations stable, he said.

“The government will act promptly to ensure the company continues its operations and that layoffs are avoided,” Minister Agus Gumiwang said in a press release on Friday (25/10/2024).

President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, and Ministry of Manpower to explore options to support PT Sritex, the biggest textile manufacturer in Indonesia that employ more than 17,000 employees.

"These options will be presented soon, once the ministries complete their evaluations,” Minister Agus Gumiwang added.

The Semarang Commercial Court recently declared PT Sritex bankrupt after PT Indo Bharat Rayon, one of its creditors, petitioned to cancel a 2022 debt restructuring agreement.
