Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta’s Anti-Corruption Court has sentenced Indonesian Democrati Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto to 3.5 years in prison for his role in a bribery scheme involving former election commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.
He was also fined Rp 250 million, or three months’ jail in lieu
“The defendant is legally and convincingly guilty of jointly committing bribery,” presiding judge Rios Rahmanto said during the verdict hearing on Friday (26/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Hasto was found to have provided Rp 400 million in bribes to influence a legislative seat transfer (PAW) in favor of Harun Masiku, now a fugitive, who intended to get a seat in the House. However, the court cleared him of charges related to obstructing the investigation into the same case.
Despite a prosecution demand of 7 years, the court issued a lighter sentence, citing Hasto’s polite conduct, family responsibilities, and lack of prior convictions.
The verdict stems from a high-profile 2019–2024 corruption case involving vote manipulation and alleged evidence tampering following a KPK operation.
