Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   The Ministry of Home Affairs has submitted new evidence (novum) related to the territorial dispute between Aceh and North Sumatra regarding the ownership of four islands to President Prabowo Subianto.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto said on Monday (16/6/2025) that the findings will be formally compiled and presented through the Home Minister to the President. 

While withholding specific details, Deputy Minister Bima emphasized the strategic importance of the newly uncovered data for the final decision-making process.

“We cannot disclose the substance yet, but the data is critical to reaching a resolution,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The evidence was gathered by an internal investigation team from the ministry, and further discussions are ongoing with relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Defense, the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), the Indonesian Army and Navy.

This long-standing dispute has raised questions over administrative jurisdiction and resource control, prompting increasing urgency for a conclusive settlement amid concerns of regional tension and governance clarity.
