inp.polri.go.id - South OKU. The South Sumatra Regional Police, through the South OKU Sub-regional Police, launched the innovative Digital Awareness Village (DSD) program as a strategic step to prevent cybercrime based on empowering village communities.

The program launch took place in the Hall of Sertupol Anumerta Hadinata of the South OKU Sub-regional Police and involved various cross-sectoral elements, including local government, community organizations, youth organizations, and students from across the South OKU Regency.

He stated that the Digital Awareness Village Program was designed as a concrete solution to address the increasingly widespread threat of technology-based crime, particularly in rural areas. Therefore, the program targets four main groups: students and teenagers, parents and families, village officials and community leaders, and youth and the general public.

The South OKU Sub-regional Police then established three main focuses for this program: improving public digital literacy, preventing cybercrimes such as online fraud and digital gambling, and strengthening the role of communities in maintaining digital security. To achieve these goals, the DSD program is implemented through various integrated methods.

Officers conduct direct outreach, virtual education via Zoom meetings, the formation of digital community groups, social media campaigns, cyber patrols, and mentoring by Bhabinkamtibmas (community police officers) in villages.

Furthermore, these activities include outreach on the dangers of hoaxes, prevention of child grooming, anti-online gambling campaigns, the formation of digital literacy volunteers, and regular monitoring and evaluation every two months.

South OKU Sub-regional Police Chief I Made Redi Hartana emphasized that this program represents a concrete step by the National Police in strengthening public protection in the digital era.

"The Digital Awareness Village Program is a joint movement. We invite all elements of society to play an active role in protecting themselves and their environment from the threat of cybercrime," he explained on Tuesday (4/7/2026).
