Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will adjust oil and gas imports from the United States based on national demand, according to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Tuesday (22/7/2025).
Although specifics were not disclosed, the minister said the imports could include LPG, refined products, and crude oil.
"The volume depends on Indonesia’s needs. We’re planning to purchase LPG, refined products, and crude—so it’ll be a mix," said Minister Airlangga after a closed-door meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace
He added that import timelines and mechanisms would be subject to bilateral agreements between Indonesia and the U.S., involving both a cooperation framework and implementing arrangements.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia separately confirmed that agreements between PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and ExxonMobil, Chevron, and KDT Global Resource could facilitate such imports. He declined to comment on the volume.
These energy imports are part of Indonesia’s commitment to rebalance trade, linked to the U.S. lowering import tariffs on Indonesian goods from 32% to 19%.
