Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) have signed a joint statement to enhance seafood quality assurance cooperation.
“We aim to ensure seafood safety and quality so that more Indonesian products can enter the Australian market,” said Ishartini, the Head of the Fish Quarantine and Inspection Agency at MMAF, on Monday (4/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
She noted that over 2,000 Indonesian seafood products are already exported to Australia, with growing potential.
The agreement highlights mutual recognition of both agencies as competent authorities and outlines plans for joint pre-border inspections, market surveillance, and food safety enforcement.
To date, 184 Indonesian fish processing units have exported key commodities to Australia, including canned tuna, sardines, pouched tuna, goldband snapper, and frozen fish loins.
