inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of the Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Eddy Hartono said that Indonesia believes that the spirit of multilateralism and international cooperation play a crucial role in overcoming various forms of transnational crime, including terrorism.

In the 34th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) in Vienna, Austria, Tuesday (20/5), he said that collaboration and cooperation between each country are important to overcome terrorism.

"At the national level, Indonesia is committed to increasing technical cooperation in handling the issue of transnational crime by strengthening the partnership between the Indonesian and UNODC under the Programme Governance Committee (PGC) mechanism," said Eddy, who is the Head of the Indonesian Delegation, as quoted from Antaranews, Sunday (5/25/2025).

Eddy also re-emphasized the resolution on the handling of children associated with terrorist groups initiated by Indonesia at the 33rd CCPCJ session last year.

The emphasis of the resolution, he said, aims to build global commitment in providing holistic protection for children associated with terrorism.

"Indonesia re-emphasizes the resolution on the treatment of children associated with terrorist groups, including children who are recruited and exploited by those groups, initiated by Indonesia together with Australia at the UNCCPCJ last year," he said.

According to him, this needs to get support from member countries of the United Nations (UN) in its implementation, especially in the formation of the Intergovernmental Expert Group.

The theme raised in this year's CCPCJ is "Addressing new, emerging and evolving forms of crime, including crimes that affect the environment, smuggling of commercial goods and trafficking in cultural property and other crimes targeting cultural property".
