Inp.polri.go.id - Beijing. Indonesia and China convened their first-ever 2+2 ministerial meeting, bringing together Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin with their Chinese counterparts Wang Yi and Dong Jun.
Held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse on Monday (21/4/2025), the meeting marks 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations and follows a 2024 agreement between Presidents Prabowo Subianto and Xi Jinping to strengthen cooperation across five pillars: politics, economy, people-to-people exchange, maritime, and security.
“This meeting becomes even more meaningful as we celebrate 75 years of Indonesia-China relations,” said Minister Sugiono, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Defense Minister Sjafrie stressed that security cooperation must be grounded in mutual benefit and inclusivity. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi echoed the importance of the new 2+2 mechanism, calling it “a valuable platform to deepen bilateral ties.”
