Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesia continue to push the use of electric vehicle through the road map which set a target dozen millions of two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles will be operating in the road in 2030.
“Our long-term goal is that in 2030 there will be at least two million cars and 12 million motorbikes,” says Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination of Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Rachmat Kaimuddin as quoted from Antara, Tuesday (11/7/23).
In improving the use of electric vehicle, government has also launched incentive program from September 2023 which will be going for two years for a million bike and 100,000 cars.
The government would give an incentive of IDR 7 million for each of 800,000 electric motorbike and 200,000 conversion motorbikes. While for the electric cars, the incentive given would be the reduction of tax to 10%.
“We saw an increase of 1% after the incentive, although it is not optimized yet, but we saw a progress each year. We believe there would be significant increase by improving the level of production and our incentive program. We expect there would be a progress by the end of this year,” says Rachmat.
Meanwhile, the government also set for electric vehicle manufacturers who follows the incentive program are the company with The Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 40%.
In establishing a healthy electric vehicle ecosystem, government has also set their sights in establishing battery manufacturers considering the price is still high.
“Currently, there are several plans to build battery manufacturers in Indonesia considering we already have sufficient resource to initiate this plan. We plan to build the manufacturers in Sulawesi, Central Java, and West Java. In the future, the battery manufacture would be linked to the automotive manufactures,” explains Rachmat.
