Ego Syahrial, the Special Staff of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, announced Indonesia's resolve to attain Net Zero Emissions by 2050. The country put forth an array of innovative strategies encompassing the utilization of solar power, geothermal energy, hydropower, nuclear energy, and green hydrogen technology. A pivotal stride toward realizing this ambition entailed the phased shutdown of all coal-fired power plants by 2058, a development reported by antaranews.com. Vivi Yulaswati, who occupied a position in the Ministry of National Development Planning, emphasized the significance of employing environmentally sound financial mechanisms, such as carbon taxes, to bolster eco-friendly policies. Yudho Dwinanda Priaadi, a Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources of the Energy Ministry, elaborated on Indonesia's strategic efforts to establish a super grid interconnecting the nation's islands into a unified national electrical grid. This infrastructure development was instrumental in enhancing the adoption of renewable energy sources. Denis Chaibi, the European Union Ambassador to Indonesia, conveyed the European Union's enthusiasm for facilitating Indonesia's transition to cleaner energy sources and combating climate change. The European Union had even pledged 2.4 billion Euros for the Fair Energy Transition Partnership in Indonesia, underscoring the paramount importance of unwavering political commitment and well-conceived projects to harness Indonesia's vast potential in renewable energy.
