Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government strongly condemned the Israeli military's attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital in North Gaza, which forced the evacuation of the Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) team.
In a statement posted on its social media platform X on Saturday (7/12/2024), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the assault as a grave violation of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law. The attack targeted civilian infrastructure, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Indonesia called on the international community to intensify pressure on Israel to halt violence immediately and uphold its obligations under international law, ensuring the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed that the six MER-C medical personnel evacuated safely to Public Aid Hospital in Gaza, where they continue their humanitarian mission, according to antaranews.com.
The MER-C team had been stationed at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia since 1 December 2024 under coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO). Following intensified attacks, they were instructed to leave the hospital on Friday
