Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s national futsal team won the top spot in Group B of the 2024 AFF Futsal Championship by defeating Myanmar 5-1 in their final group match in Nakhon Ratchasima on Wednesday (6/11/2024).
Coach Hector Souto fielded a fresh lineup, featuring Muhammad Nizar as goalkeeper and Evan Soumilena as pivot, according to antaranews.com.
Myanmar, needing a draw to advance, struggled against Indonesia’s solid defense. Indonesia took the lead in the first half with a powerful long-range strike from Rio Pangestu in the 15th minute. Wendy Brian doubled the score in the 22nd minute, followed shortly by a third goal from Samuel Eko.
Despite Myanmar’s lone goal, Indonesia added two more from Firman Adriansyah and Romi Humandri, ending the match at 5-1.
Indonesia now heads to the semifinals on Friday to face the runner-up from Group A. Australia joins them as Group B’s second qualifier after a 9-2 win over Cambodia.
