Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) criticized recent raids by social organizations targeting Padang cuisine restaurants in Cirebon, West Java, deeming them inconsistent with fair competition principles.
The Head of KPPU’s Regional Office I, Ridho Pamungkas, said on Wednesday (6/11/2024), "This phenomenon contradicts healthy competition principles."
Ridho called for further investigation to determine whether these establishments were intentionally engaging in loss-leading sales, which sparked the raids. He argued that small and medium businesses (UMKM) cannot afford sustained losses without sacrificing product quality.
KPPU views lower prices as potentially beneficial for consumers by providing more options. Conversely, enforcing uniform prices could limit consumer choice. Encouraging price diversity through fair competition, Ridho added, fosters new UMKM, boosting the regional economy.
"Every citizen has the right to sell Padang rice,"said Andre Rosiade, Executive Chairman of the Minangkabau Family Association (IKM), condemning the raids,
