Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. Indonesia and Germany have strengthened their partnership to improve the governance of skilled labor migration, with a focus on placing Indonesian migrant workers in Europe, particularly Germany.
"This cooperation strengthens our spirit and provides concrete support to help us carry out comprehensive improvements," said Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, at the Indonesia–Germany Strategic Partnership event in Bandung on Thursday (19/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The partnership aims to ensure better governance and stronger protection for Indonesian workers heading to Germany. As part of the initiative, two new programs were launched, namely MOVE-ID (Integrated Information Center for Migration, Vocational Training, and Development in Indonesia), by Germany’s GIZ on behalf of BMZ, launched in Bandung and Mataram; and KSM (Southeast Asia Competence Center for Skilled Labor Migration to Germany), by Goethe-Institut Indonesien in Bandung.
Germany's Ambassador to Indonesia, Ina Lepel, emphasized that demographic challenges—such as an aging population and rising demand for skilled labor—necessitate stronger bilateral cooperation, particularly in fields like healthcare, engineering, IT, hospitality, and construction.
She noted that Indonesia’s young, growing workforce presents a timely opportunity for a mutually beneficial partnership grounded in shared values and joint responsibility.
