Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Corrections has transferred 46 high-risk inmates from Lampung to the super-maximum security prison on Nusakambangan Island, Central Java, as part of a crackdown on narcotics operations within correctional facilities.
“These inmates fall into the high-risk category. Moving them to Nusakambangan is part of our serious effort to eliminate drugs from prisons and detention centers,” said Rika Aprianti, the Head of Correctional Cooperation at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, on Friday (11/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The transfer took place on 9 July 2025 under tight security involving intelligence, compliance, and mobile brigade (Brimob) officers. The inmates were relocated from multiple facilities in Lampung due to repeated offenses, primarily drug-related.
The move also supports behavioral rehabilitation efforts and includes disciplinary actions for corrupt correctional officers. Eight officers involved in drug violations are currently undergoing spiritual and disciplinary training in Nusakambangan.
The total number of high-risk inmates relocated to the island since Minister Agus Andrianto’s tenure has now reached 1,048.
