Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesia’s U-23 national team advanced to the final of the 2025 AFF U-23 Championship after a dramatic 7–6 win over Thailand in a penalty shootout at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Friday (25/7/2025).

“We fought until the end, and this win shows the team’s mental strength,” said head coach Gerald Vanenburg after the match, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The game ended 1–1 after extra time. Thailand led through Yotsakon Burapha’s 60th-minute goal before Jens Raven equalized in the 83rd minute with a header from a corner.

Indonesia dominated possession with 71%, while Thailand registered 21 shots. Despite multiple threats from both sides in extra time, no additional goals were scored.

Indonesia will face Vietnam in the final on Tuesday, while Thailand will play the Philippines for third place the day before.
