Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will remain a signatory to the Paris Agreement as part of its commitment to achieve net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said on Tuesday (7/10/2025).
His statement came amid global reactions to the United States’ withdrawal from the climate pact.
“Indonesia will not leave because President Prabowo Subianto is firmly committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2060,” Minister Bahlil said, as reported by antaranews.com.
He added that even the high cost of the energy transition would not shake Indonesia’s commitment to clean energy goals.
Citing data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Minister Bahlil noted ASEAN would need around USD 29.4 trillion to achieve full renewable energy by 2050. He called for stronger financing from developed nations and institutions such as JETP, AZEC, and the Asian Development Bank. President Prabowo recently reaffirmed Indonesia’s climate stance during the UN General Assembly in New York.
